Board Member

LeKeisha Veasley is the new Executive Director for the City of Waterloo Housing Authority. Ms. Veasley was the Community Inclusion Strategist for Veridian Credit Union prior to becoming the Executive Director for the Waterloo Housing Authority. LeKeisha Veasley served in this position for 6yrs. In the role of Community Inclusion Strategist, LeKeisha was to build relationships in the community by partnering with agencies who serve Veridian members/potential members from a variety of backgrounds. The position was also responsible for specialty products (ITINs, IDAs), offering financial literacy presentations and partnering with community events that connected Veridian to the unbanked/underbanked populations in the communities served. Ms. Veasley developed and lead a Racial Economic Equity (REE) Incubator called Driving Wealth Home. The purpose of the (REE) Incubator initiative was to bring the power of the credit union movement to the push for racial economic equity. Ms. Veasley was also employed with Operation Threshold Community Action Agency for 13 yrs. During her employment she served in various positions such as, Agency Data Manager, Housing and Fair Lending Manager, and Director of the Campaign for Grade Level Reading.

 Ms. Veasley received her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and International Relations from Wartburg College and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Northern Iowa. She is a Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) for demonstrating mastery in 21st century leadership, management, and addressing the causes of poverty. LeKeisha has a Housing Development Finance Professional Certification from the National Development Council. Ms. Veasley also possesses a Community Lending & Homeownership Professional Certification from NeighborWorks America Training Institute. She also is a certified home-buyer instructor and homeownership coach. LeKeisha earned a certification as a Results Oriented Management Accountability (ROMA) Trainer. As a ROMA Trainer LeKeisha possesses the expertise to help non-profit organizations develop a sound management practice that incorporates the use of measurable outcomes and results into its administration, management, and overall operations.

Ms. Veasley served on numerous committees/boards focused on affordable housing, community reinvestment, and financial empowerment. LeKeisha is currently vice president of the board for Iowa Habitat for Humanity and a board member for Able Up Iowa. Ms. Veasley was the board President of the Iowa Homeownership Education Project and a former board member of the Highway 63 Community Development Corporation. She served on the advisory council for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. LeKeisha was selected for the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) Iowa Innovation Group and Veridian Credit Union’s Emerging Leaders Group.
