John P. Rigler III currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Peoples Bank, an independent community bank headquartered in Clive.  Peoples Bank serves eight locations across central and western Iowa.  John is the fourth generation Rigler to lead the bank since it was founded nearly 90 years ago.  As the bank has evolved over the years, so has its core business; today, more than half the loan portfolio at Peoples Bank is in commercial real estate.

 John began his banking career 25 years ago as a teller at a Des Moines-area community bank.  After completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin and interning at Principal, he worked at JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank in their commercial real estate divisions.  Over his career he completed an MBA at Northwestern as well as post-graduate studies at the Wharton School’s Graduate School of Banking.  While leading new business development for Wells Fargo’s real estate asset management division in the Great Lakes region, John earned his CCIM designation in 2016. 

 Outside of banking, John serves on the governing board of Iowa Community Development (ICD) where they’ve deployed more than $320 million in New Market’s Tax Credits across Iowa.  John also serves on various other boards that are mostly focused on economic development and rural housing.  John currently lives in Urbandale with his wife and four kids.
