Stephanie Murphy

Stephanie Murphy is the Executive Director of Neighborhood Finance Corporation (NFC).  She has held this position since April 2014.  NFC is a 34-year-old non-profit mortgage lending organization with offices in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  NFC provides unique lending programs to facilitate targeted neighborhood revitalization through partnerships with residents, governments, community-based organization and the business community. NFC Properties, a subsidiary, builds and renovates homes in the NFC lending areas.

Stephanie has 35 years of housing and mortgage experience, and been a leader in affordable housing policy and community collaboration initiatives.  Her experience spans both the corporate and non-profit world.

Prior to joining NFC, Stephanie led an analytics reporting team at Wells Fargo HomeMortgage that worked with the federal Making Home Affordable program. From 2005 to 2011, as Executive Director for the statewide non-profit group, the Iowa Home Ownership Education Project (IHOEP), Stephanie collaborated with the Iowa Mortgage Help foreclosure prevention initiative that coordinated $2.5 million dollars in funding among 9 agencies across Iowa. She also secured and administered Department of Housing and Urban Development funding while directing training and technical assistance to agencies providing housing counseling services. Stephanie has prior experience with NFC, having joined the organization in 1991 serving as their Vice President, Mortgage Loan Manager until her departure in 1996.

Stephanie serves on the Fannie Mae Affordable Housing Committee, is the Vice-President of the National Neighbor Works America Board of Directors, serves on local housing and community development Boards and Committees, and serves on her church lay leadership team.
